In total disregard to the First Amendment the district has sent a letter home to Dunlap parents informing them that public comments regarding the proposed closing of Dunlap will be severely limited or possibly not permitted at the February 10 board meeting -- the same meeting where the board will be voting on closing Dunlap.

Why can't this district learn to treat all stakeholders with respect? Having a conversation about the budget problems and coming to a joint decision would really prevent all this drama year after year. Would anyone trust them anymore if they tried? Informing the news before the staff that a school might be closing is just pathetic. YCJUSD district administration, please acknowledge that other people exist and communicate effectively with them in this time of crisis, for once.
I was shocked when I read the letter just minutes before I had to pass it out to my students. They way those poor parents were treated last board meeting was heartbreaking--standing there for hours with their children. What a rude School Board we have. I just hope the parents decide to give it anyother shot Tuesday night. I wouldn't blame them if they didnt!
I'm not sure I understand how they can keep the parent from speaking. I this legal? Don't they have a right to speak? Does the Brown Act come in to play at all?
How can they keep the public from speaking about something on the agenda? Isn't that what the "Public Participation" section is all about? Is this legal? It doesn't make sense...
Meet the new board, same as the old board!
1.) Why would the Board close Dunlap BEFORE they have heard the final word on the budget from the state? Seems this draconian action is a bit premature.
2.) UNLESS the board (or someone close to them, say a former YCJUSD administrator) has other plans for the Dunalp site, like, say, a charter school?
3.) Why will the community not act to remove Sherry, Sue and Patty from the Board and the District office? I think their hen party has gone on long enough!
Has anyone contacted CTA Legal, or the ACLU to determine the legality of this action?
Do Not close 'Dunlap Elementary' !! There is absolutely reason to close the school except maybe there's a hidden agenda!
