YCJUSD has a new Superintendent

For those of you who are still checking the blog, yesterday morning, the District announced (via a brief email) that Dr. Sherry Kendrick was appointed our new District Superintendent. Let's hope that she is up to the task of rebuilding the relationship between the Association and the district administration.

Of course there was lunch-room talk about the possibility of this happening, but I really didn't believe the Board would be so foolish to hire Sherry. I can't imagine her being a "friend" to the teachers, ever. I will keep an open mind with a very watchful eye.

BTW - Why was the District more concerned and careful about finding an Athletic Director than a Superintendent?

I was very disappointed that the board chose to go in-house, and with no input from any of the educational community members such as parents, teacher, or union members. It shows a complete lack of respect to the rest of us trying to make a difference for these children that they didn't take into account anyone else's opinion but their own.

Congratulations, Dr. Kendrick. I hope that your tenure in this position is one of reconciliation and growth for the entire
District. I certainly hope that there will not be an automatic "promotion" to the Asst. Supt. for Human Resources. That office needs someone that can truly respond to the employees and provide reliable and consistent service to them.
