And that, ladies and gentlemen, ls longer than ANY district in the area. Even up in Hayward, they're striking over this year's contract, not last year's. Sure would be nice if our district thought enough of us to pay us what we deserve, when we deserve it.
SALARY CALCULATOR - HOW MUCH HAS YOUR LACK OF A FAIR SETTLEMENT COST YOU SO FAR:
1.) GO TO http://ycea.com/SalaryA1.html AND FIND YOUR SALARY.
FEB 2005 SALARY ________________
NOW MULTIPLY BY 0.0423 (05-06 COLA)
05-06 COLA ________________
THIS RESULT IS WHAT THE DISTRICT OWES YOU FOR LAST YEAR ALONE.
NOW, MULTIPLY YOUR FEBRUARY 2005 SALARY BY 1.0423 AND HIT THE (=) BUTTON. THEN MULTIPLY THAT RESULT BY 0.0599. THIS IS YOUR 06-07 COLA.
06-07 COLA ________________
ADD YOUR 05-06 COLA AND YOUR 06-07 COLA TOGETHER TO SEE WHAT THE DISTRICT OWES YOU. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE DISTRICT HAS RECEIVED ABOUT 150% OF THIS AMOUNT IN NEW MONEY SINCE 04-05, IN PART TO MAKE UP FOR THE LACK OF COLA DURING THE LAST BUDGET CRISIS.
WHAT THE DISTRICT OWES ME _________
ARE YOU OUTRAGED YET???
EXAMPLE, USING $50,000 AS A FEBRUARY 2005 SALARY: 05-06 COLA = $ 2115.00 06-07 COLA = 3121.69
DISTRICT OWES: 5236.69 (AT LEAST!) THIS IS WELL OVER ONE MONTH'S PAY!
Another "Fun" Math Fact: The 1.2 million ADDITIONAL the District just budgeted for Andelson and Friends could have funded a COLA/COLA raise for 229 of us (assuming we made an average of $50,000/year), or it could fund a 4% raise for every single district employee. That Priorities thing, again!
Outrage is an understatement. Particularly annoying when members of the public portray us as whining crybabies.....imagine, complaining when you've been without a contract for 620 days.....what a group of anarchists we are.
aaaaaah. I must say, that even though I felt like YHS would be my "home" for the entirety of my career, I'm OH, so glad I left. I have the occasional wave of nostalgia for the "old days," but I have to tell you that it's so much nicer to work at a district that values its teachers, and pays them a bit more fairly.
I wonder if the few teachers left at the high school that I used to call colleagues feel a bit like the guys in the Temptations. It seems there are far more teachers who are ex-Yucaipa teachers than there are continuing Yucaipa teachers.
What is it going to take for your district to "get it?"
There are far more "beautiful green valleys" just over the hill.
We're waiting for you with open arms.
Hopefully you will pass this on to the district and school board before you delete it.
We are teachers, counselors, and school psychologists, all giving our best for the children of Yucaipa-Calimesa. We ask that we be treated fairly and professionally.

I have yet to meet a disgruntled FORMER Yucaipa teacher. All that I know seem pretty happy to be out of Yucaipa!
