District finds way to waste even MORE $$$ sending out "Snot Grams"

Can you think of some better ways the district could have spent the $$$ they spent on postage, Xeroxing, and envelopes plus all the time for a clerk to stuff, address, apply postage and mail the "snot gram" you received today?

Obviously the senior administration of the district and the school board think it's better to waste taxpayer money sending out garbage rather than fairly compensate teachers.

610 days without a settlement!

I think the part that made me snort was their saying they have to spend so much money on legal fees because of the negotiations. Well, duh. Settle. Spend the money more wisely, like on us, and not on lawyers.

It must really be difficult to be so clueless.

I haven't seen the latest snot gram, I'm so looking forward to getting my mail tomorrow. I can't wait to read why my employer thinks I'm awful this week. The fact that they're complaining about legal fees for negotiations shows their complete and total lack of personal accounability. Didn't YCEA send out a flyer showing their legal expense increases? Way to go YCEA leadership!

Does our healthcare package cover treatment for chronic Cranio-Rectal Inversion? I think our Board and District officials have a bad, bad case!

It was a delight to see so many of our "We Support Yucaipa Teachers" signs on Third Street. Must have been fifteen between Avenue E and Wildwood Canyon! Of course, with the blinders our board and district administrators wear, I doubt they see them at all. I noticed one resident had penned in his own message, "Recall Odekerk". Capital idea, eh wot?

So, 39 cents for postage, plus envelope, plus paper, plus secretarial costs, plus $600.00 per hour for Andelson's law firm to write it, times two for the letter I received last week... Yup, they probably can burn the 1.2 million dollar Legal Fees increase before the end of the school year! With luck, they may even be able to spend more taxpayer money on this nonsense next year! BTW, couldn't the District even try to save funds by using their nonprofit status to bulk mail this crap to us?!

Maybe our district's lawyers can name their new yachts after Yucaipa? Give credit where credit is due!

It's interesting that they won't reveal what they actually pay their attorneys! Maybe the attorneys have received a Cost of Living Adjustment and are now making $650/hour!

Why couldn't they use district mail and deliver their lies to us for no postage cost? Maybe they were affraid we would be too tempted to send it back to Mitch.

I'm taking mine to school on Monday and sending it back to Mitch with some choice comments added to the margins. I would be tempted to mail it to him but he doesn't doesn't have the courage to list his address in the telephone directory. I've been in the district over 18 years and every superintendent until him listed his/her phone number and address. He obvious doesn't consider us to be his colleagues.

It's sure nice to see the Blog active again. I really like the daily posts that were a fixture of it before Spring Break.

I guess in addition to higher gas costs and higher home costs, the cost of screwing your employees is going up too. The 1.2 million additional for the District's legal counsel is their bright idea of a budget priority. Oh, that and Bernie's precious NFL quality football field! I'm glad that our Board is able to figure all of this out in just a few hours a week, it would take me a lot longer to come up with a scheme as idiotic as theirs.

How difficult it must be to be forced to spend your employees COLA on attorney's fees. I would think an employer would rather invest the money in those who make their business successful. Oh wait, I said I would think that's right they don't think; at least not about teachers. You stupid morons stop spending the COLA on the attorney, he doesn't care about our kids the teachers do. Does the school board care?

An excerpt from the bestselling book, "Lawyering for Dummies":

"If you can't refute the evidence, BLAME THE VICTIM. It's even better if you can use the victim's own money to prove your point".

BTW, if the district's legal counsel doesn't cost $600/hour, how much do they make??? Did they get a raise, or was YCJUSD able to arrange a volume discount? Last time I checked, my salary was posted online for all too see, why won't Andelson do the same?

I'd like to thank the board for the flattery I felt when they used my Blog handle (Just the Facts) as the title for their latest update. Of course, they ARE doing their part to save the earth by recycling - ideas, salary offers, negotiations strategies, etc. I am still in amazement in how closely their attack on us parallels the strategy used in Colton. Couldn't the Board at least demand that their attorneys come up with some new material? At the price, you'd think that Andelson could at least try a new approach - after all, he's lost in every other district that's tried that approach!

Regarding what the District says they DON'T pay their lawyers: So what DO you pay them? Looks like the old organized crime alibi - You can't prove nothin'!

Gee, do you think the lawyers are working pro bono?

Let's start working today at fielding new candidates for the school board election, whenever that may be. I think that some of the new blood (Jim O and Joyella) and all of the old blood need to find a new source of free healthcare and steep stipends (oops.....donations? gas money?....whatever their "non-salary" could euphemistically be called).

Let's get going YCEA membership.....we need leadership with conscience.

As we look for candidates, let's be mindful of the fact that all five of the current board members received YCEA support during their last election bid. Our union also needs to be guided by a moral and ethical compass, not just blown around by the winds of political expediency. Let's be sure that any potential board candidate is well known by a broad base of supporters, not simply championed by one or two of our union officers. In the words of the comic strip character Pogo, "I have met the enemy, and he is us." We must choose wisely.

Over paid lawyers? Check.
Undervalued teachers? Check.
Board ego out of control? Check
Superintendent wwho promotes tension? Check
Stick a needle in my eye rather than visit D.O.? Check

Return to the 'good ol' days' when we had leadership (Vernie Burmeister, Phil Mirci, Ellen Garretson, etc.) that actually valued teachers? PRICELESS!

Did this go out to just the 452 YCEA members? $176.28 in postage, um, I believe that would have paid for 3 counselors to attend a UC workshop and maybe pay for the gas if they carpool. The cost to put out this repeat of "the facts" might have provided so much more. Another fiscally responsible action.
