This is a Blog for YCJUSD educators and anyone else that needs a place to vent, a place of support and a place of solidarity.

We may need to establish a series of safe-houses to transport teachers to the north (may Hayward) where teachers are free!
Odd...when I accepted a job at YCJUSD I don't recall having agreed to a lifetime of indentured servitude...
It's ironic that this charge is coming from the same superintendent who tried to flee his three year contract with the district after only one year. Too bad Bonita wouldn't take him back, we would be free of the slave driver.
The taxpayers of California can thank the district's "litigate instead of negotiate" attitude for the $31 million school that sitting abandoned. Way to go attorneys!
If they had a case, they would have filed an injunction to block a strike. But they still have all of that money in their attorney fees and consulting part of their budget they need to spend. Your tax dollars at work, working against you!
Since when does their contract supercede state and federal labor law? Maybe the district's attorneys need a little refresher course in how our legal system works. Maybe we could use the district's conference budget to send them to one, you know, to say thank you for all you do for (to) us.
460 teacher would be nice, but 3500 angry community members would be even better! Time to get on the phone...
They are complete morons! I can't believe they have control over the education of 10,000 children.
Maybe the community can do better next time when the board is up for election this November. Oops! I mean November 2008, since the board was nice enough to extend their own terms by one year.
Worse yet, I can't believe they have control over the education of MY children!
The excuses are so feeble it is sickening. I hope that the fact finding official is able to see through the smoke screens. If nothing else, I can only hope that if the district opts to not deal with us fairly at the outcome of fact finding that at least the public will then have a clear picture of where the problem is.
Remember when teachers and school sites had a modicum of control over curriculum, SIP money, inservice training, etc? Not only does the District figure we have no right to strike, they also have centralized control over nearly every aspect of our professional lives. Their management plan seems to be falling into line with that of Walmart or McDonalds. In no way does Yucaipa today resemble the proud district I came to work for ten years ago. My problem with this district extends far beyond salary; so I will not be returning next fall. Those of you who are considering staying should make time to talk with someone who has left (there are a lot to choose from!) and get their perspective on the teaching profession outside of Yucaipa.
This morning I saw some of our signs in Cherry Valley (corner of Brookside & Cherry). We are supported far and wide. It's great to have support from the community and beyond. Thank you. You have made the Yucaipa teachers know that we are strong and unbeatable! We will prevail!
I came to this district with hope of unity with all concerned. I am disheartened by the lack of professionalism by the district office and the board. Way to go ParkView way to get 70% approx out on the line this morning. Hope to see all of you including those that just couldn't or wouldn't make it out today, over at the district office tomorrow. WE NEED TO REMAIN UNITED, let's push until we get what we deserve.
