Rally starts at 4:00

Let's hope that the Negotiations Team will be able to announce a settlement and that it will become a celebration instead of a protest.

I am a parent who is in support of the teachers 100%, but I am appalled at the incident that took place at Park View today Thursday 5-10-07. A 6th grade student (child) was manhandled apparently by a campus "safety" person today because he was handing out flyers from the PIST group. This student fully thought he was doing a good thing and was supporting his teachers. This is a good kid who has not been in trouble ect. so no reason to even target him whatsoever. He was forced to the office and was then interrigated by the Principal Mr. Littel, who threatened him with suspension, told the student he was lucky he wasn't going to jail, that what he did was illeagal. Come on now, this is a child who thought he was doing a good thing. Is this so called Principal nuts????!!!! Oh did I mention that this kid is a boyscout and when he was yelled at and the principal demanded to know where he had gotten the letter, demanded a name and the scout told him at a boyscout meeting, that the Principal, the man who is suppose to be setting the example to this child, then bagan to "trash" talk the child's boyscout troop, and mis represented who he ( the principal) was and how he is affiliated with boyscouts himself. In my research so far I have found him to be affiliated with Scouts but Cub Scouts not Boyscouts. Intimidation, heck yes, manhandeling, heck yes, cival rights violation, oh heck yes, student with good intentions, treated with no respect, oh heck heck yes! Now this kid is a model scout mind you and is devistated and has learned a life lesson he will not forget for sure. I hope all you teachers know just what your students are doing for you and induring for you! Unfortunatly it is not just about COLA anymore but integrity as well. It is a sad day in Yucaipa today I feel, when an adult has to attack, and yes I said attack a child in this mannor! Lord help this community!!!! This is getting to be ridiculas! Pay the teachers what they desrve so that everyone can get back to what is right!!!!

I promised myself I wouldn't check here for the good news untill the sun went down. I fudged a little.
I was so proud of us today. A year ago at a board meeting I congratulated our board on radicalizing the teachers of Yucaipa. Today demonstrated that we are still angry and unwilling to settle for less that what's fair. TWO YEARS IS TOO LONG, WE ARE STILL STANDING STRONG.

It was great to see Adam from the PE there, but the NM seemed to be MIA. With the significant police presence, I didn't know whether to feel very nervous or very safe.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CAME! IT WAS GREAT TO SEE SUCH A HUGE NUMBER OF TEACHERS, FORMER AND RETIRED TEACHERS, PARENTS, STUDENTS (PAST AND PRESENT) AND OTHERS GATHERED TO SUPPORT OUR CAUSE. I HOPE THAT THE BOARD IS WILLING TO "SEE THE LIGHT", AND SPARE THIS COMMUNITY THE PAIN OF A TEACHER STRIKE BY MAKING A FAIR OFFER TO ITS TEACHERS. FOR ONCE, I ACTUALLY AGREE WITH THE NEWS-MIRROR, IT IS "TIME TO SETTLE AND HEAL". TWO YEARS TOO LONG!

Thank you Negotiations Team for all of your hard work. YCEA we need to hang tough. We are all still here working and doing our best for kids daily. We know we have the responsibility to be professional and do our job. Unfortunately our District no longer values the dedication and commitment we bring everyday to our schools. For those of you old timers like me, we are not experienced in this kind of disrespect and disregard and its easy to say the tide will turn and we'll be okay. Well I don't agree with that any more. I'm not worth over $10K a year LESS than my colleagues down the hill. To you young ones out there, I see this as a time to set the record straight; we are entitled to a fair share and if you settle for anything less you've set yourselves up for continuous struggles. I don't want to strike, but I can no longer take one for the team and continue saying that I'm doing it for the kids. We need to take a stand for the current employees and ensure that the ones to come after us are compensated for the work they will do for all the kids to come. I hope that this is an unnecessary comment and that our team will have great news for us in the morning. If not then we need to stand tall and strong and fight for what is right.
