Concerned Community Members Discuss Recall.

Community members are looking into a RECALL of the YCJUSD governing board. Sighting a lack of positive leadership, a disregard for the concerns of the parents and teachers, and a track record of questionable decisions, a group of parents and concerned business people from Yucaipa and Calimesa have requested information from YCEA regarding the procedures and timelines for initiating a recall election. Especially troubling to the group was the board’s recent decision to extend its own terms by adjusting the election cycle to coincide with general elections.

Thanks for this info. I have been interested in a Petition of NO CONFIDENCE, but a recall is much better.

I will support these "concerned community members" in any and every way I can...I am hopeful that all YCEA Members will show their support as well. We must do more than talk and blog...how about a little action!

Without agressive parent support, quality education is dead in Yucaipa. The Board has made it clear that they intend to stand firm in their support of substandard wages and lack of respect for teachers as professionals, so it is either us or them. In the absence of rational decision making, a recall seems like the only viable option to retain quality teachers.

I say we help and give the community full YCEA support in a recall. I would be willing to give many of my week-end hours to work toward this goal. Why let them extend their years on the board? A board that has no respect and support for their teachers has no business being in their position. Time to say bye!
