Why can all of these other school districts afford to spend more on salaries than YCJUSD? Perhaps their business departments know how to plan a budget. Perhaps their School Boards feel that employees are a priority. It is the employees, after all, who make a difference in the life of every child. Perhaps the other districts are not spending $600/hr on an attorney to clean up their mistakes and fight with their teachers. We would like the School Board to tell us why!

Mitch and Ted should be ashamed for the poor way they have managed this district! It's time for both of them to do the right thing and step down.

I bet Yucaipa's #1 in % of total funds spent on lawyers.

Why are you comparing us to other school districts. You should be comparing us to Wal-Mart, Jack-in-the-Box and Enron

More senior teachers in this district need to do the math and realize that the "glory" days are over. We truly are at the bottom, and any attempt to portray us as otherwise continues to cling to what this district once was, rather than openly acknowledging what it has become.

RE Letsrecall: Mitch and Sherry have tried (unsuccessfully) to leave. Who would take them? Certainly no school district that realizes what the teacher shortage is going to mean for the relationship between administration and teachers. They should be trying to make our working conditions better, instead they still believe that EVERYONE wants a job in Yucaipa, and we should be happy for what little they deem fit to give us. Those days are OVER!

How about a vote of NO CONFIDENCE in Dr. Hovey???

The Board, not Dr. Hovey, is the "decider". If they stay, nothing will change. If Dr. Hovey leaves, the Board will emulate the old Soviet Union, and attempt to hang all of their problems on him. It's worked before (remember Paul Jessup?), and besides, our union endorsed all five of our current Board members. Hopefully, those who are looking for board candidates are not the same people who found Jim O and Joyella!

I 2nd the motion to hold a no confidence vote on Mitch. He needs to go someplace far, far away!
