Rumor has it that Yucaipa will not be there. Could it be that the administration is ashamed of having the LOWEST salary schedule for beginning teachers? Is the administration afraid that they face the uncomfortable position of seeing their own teachers at the fair seeking employment elsewhere? We'll never know!
According to a comment left on this blog last week, a group of YHS teachers are planning a happy hour at Jose's in Yucaipa after they attend the fair. All Yucaipa teachers, whether they attend the job fair or not, are invited to attend.

Now why on God's green earth would YCJUSD need to recruit new teachers? After all, Dr. Kendrick, Mrs. Moffatt and the Board have all said that the mass exodus of teachers is just a rumor.
See you all at the job fair. Elementary jobs may be hard to find, but hey I'm highly qualified. I've had enough YCJUSD!
I'm sure that their overwhelming success at Cal State's job fair has resulted in an abundance of highly qualified applicants willing to work for substandard wages under hostile conditions, for a Board that does not value them as professionals. With today's current teacher shortage, there ought to be plenty willing to sacrifice themselves to benefit Yucaipa. Or maybe they're all teaching in New Orleans?
I have yet to meet a former Yucaipa teacher that regrets leaving. If you know a former Yucaipa teacher, give them a call and see how they are doing.
If you like, you can ask me how I'm liking my new district next year. I promise to give you an unbiased point of view. The sad thing is that it appears to me that the board and district don't care that they are risking losing quality people. They are so dangerously confident in the superiority of this district, without realizing that they OWE that superiority to the teachers! Isn't the technical term for this hubris?
Pretty soon Yucaipa will be considered the minor league team for the big leagues in Redlands (if we aren't already). If you talk to administrators and teachers in other surrounding districts there is already quite a bit of "buzz" about how this district treats teachers.
Administrators in this district are quick to mention that the grass isn't greener on the other side of the fence. This may be true, but I think they might use a higher quality fertilizer ;-)
I only here because I have too many long years in this district to be able to afford to leave or I would. Go young ones while the gettin' is good. Don't ever believe this district really cares about you. Check the records to see how many years we have started the school year with a contract. I've been here for years, and I can only recall 2 years. Then it is never retro back to the beginning of the school year. They are thieves.
