What about Calexico?

Downtown Calexico:
A few years ago YCJUSD searched far and wide to come up with districts to "compare" our salaries with.

If they do this again, they're going to have to search a bit farther to come up with districts that pay lower than Yucaipa. They'll definitely have to cross Calexico off the list.

Here's how the salaries now compare:
  • 1st year teacher with 30 units: Yucaipa-$39,250 Calexico-$40,413
  • Step 5, 45 units: Yucaipa-$49,478 Calexico-$50,517
  • Step 13, 60 units: Yucaipa-$67,887 Calexico-$68,558

Maybe they meant Mexicali, on the other side of the border...

Calexico can afford to pay their teachers more than Yucaipa? Now I'm really disgusted. I would think our tax and revenue base are a bit better than Calexico. This is just pathetic! Step up School Board and instead of listening to your administration and attorney do your own research. Our salaries suck and our benefits are very similar to other districts. Besides even if I had to pay half of my benefits package, it would be a $13,000/yr raise to go to Corona. I'll spend $4500 on benefits. It's still a raise!

The great thing about setting your standards low is that you are disappointed less often.

Now I just want to cry! I wonder if I could afford a house in Calexico on that salary? Sure can't afford a house in Yucaipa, at least not one without wheels!
