Come find out for yourself:

Who knows...you may come home with a job offer from a district paying $10,000 to $15,000 more per year!577 Days Without a Settlement!
This is a Blog for YCJUSD educators and anyone else that needs a place to vent, a place of support and a place of solidarity.

If they are smart, they will go. The should be gathering as many apps and resumes as they can. However, as we do have it on authority that teachers are not considering leaving YCJUSD, maybe it isn't necessary.
However, this would involve foresight, planning, and understanding of a problem. Unfortunately, these seem to be the qualities lacking at the DO.
I'm going to try and go, even if it is just to have a look. I'd love to see Sherry there, seeing me there!
Hey Joyella! Saw you at lunch with Patty the other day. Was she your friend before you were voted onto the board, you know, when she voted to cut your position; or did she become your friend after the votes were tallied? Or does hanging out with her help you forget your campaign promises? I'd also be interested in knowing what your plans are after you finish your teaching credential. Will you teach for another district, or will you jump into the fire you and the rest of the board have started?
I'm sure that Sherry will do exactly what she is told to do by the Board, she always does! She's going to ride this ship all the way to the bottom - what other choice does she have?
Here's a fun idea: We should start posting "Board Member Sightings" on this blog. I don't seem to ever run into our Board in Yucaipa, but they shop and dine in Redlands a lot. Is this what the Yucaipa Chamber of Commerce or the Yucaipa Kiwanis expect of its membership? C'mon Board, let's keep our dollars local - or is Yucaipa a little too hot for your liking? If our walls have ears, maybe the streets should have eyes!
TIME FOR ALL OF US READING THIS BLOG TO GET THE WORD OUT!
1.) COMPOSE A SHORT, SUPPORTIVE EMAIL, THEN PASTE IN THE BLOG'S URL
http://yucaipateacher.blogspot.com/
2.) SEND IT TO SUPPORTIVE PARENTS, COLLEAGUES, FRIENDS, RELATIVES, ANYONE WHO IS CONCERNED ABOUT QUALITY EDUCATION IN YUCAIPA.
3.) EMAIL THEM AGAIN IN A FEW DAYS, AND ASK THEM WHAT THE THOUGHT.
4.) WE ALL NEED TO REALIZE THAT IF WE ARE NOT OUR OWN ADVOCATES, THEN WE HAVE NO ADVOCATES.
I will come to the Job Fair at UCR. As President of the Riverside City Teachers, I feel it is important that all CTA members should be supportive of our brothers and sisters having difficulity with their districts.
Thank you Mark in Riverside city. We appreciate your thoughts.

I've just done the math. I can put my toddler through college without having to do a single extra duty, without having to invest a single extra minute of my time, without having to make a single sacrifice. All I'd have to do is go to work for another district and save the $5,000-$8000 a year salary increase. Shoot, if I go to the right district, I could send a whole gaggle of children!
To my colleagues who still don't think that the pay in Yucaipa is really that low: How would you feel if someone came to your door every month and demanded that you pay them $500 to $1000 for the privilige of living in Yucaipa. And, in exchange, they used your money to hire lawyers to tell you and your neighbors how easy you have it here. Would that get you mad? At this point, the difference between what I have been paid, and a full COLA settlement is about $10,000, and the year is not yet done! Time to see this board as the thieves they really are!
Why would Yucaipa need to recruit teachers? With the low pay they offer nobody can afford to retire!
So is it the courage to show up, or the sense not too? Seems to me it's sense, not courage, that is in such short supply!
Yes The School Board meeting was indeed interesting last Tuesday. Better than TV or American Idol too. Years ago the District salary was below Needles. Maybe there is a trend to return to that situation. Maybe teachers should stop going to school to earn credits. It does cause the district to spend more money on teachers. Maybe the District office should hire fewer staff with PhD's and Dr. of Ed. That would save funds.
